Open linen hood as seen on working class women depicted in several manuscripts, including the Luttrell Psalter (c. 1335-1345) and Bible Historiale de Jean de Berry by Guiard des Moulins (15th century).
I was able to cut the hood out of 1/2 yard of fabric with little waste. The front edge of the hood has a contrasting linen facing that becomes apparent when the hem is turned out. All apparent seams were finished by hand.
This is my favorite hood to be worn during hot summer events, and it fits perfectly under a straw hat.
